Health and Medical Services Minister Jone Usamate has said one of the issues they are facing is the challenge of making sure that they can move people quickly to where medical services can be provided.
While speaking at the handover of the Cardiac Ambulance to the Ministry of Health at Vision Motors, Usamate said he has seen this during his visit around the country.
He said this is a challenge not only in urban areas but also in rural areas where they have poor road conditions.
Meanwhile, the Turkish government donated the Ministry of Health a Cardiac Ambulance worth about $147,000.
This ambulance will be based at the CWM Hospital and it will allow patients to be treated in the golden hour while on their way to hospital.
Meanwhile, the Non Resident Ambassador of Turkey to Fiji Damla Say, who was present at the handover, said they want to enhance and diversify their bilateral relations beyond development assistance and this is why the Turkish government has decided to open their embassy in Suva.
Say highlighted their embassy in Suva will be the first in the Pacific when it opens.
