Fiji Weightlifter, Manueli Tulo has won three gold medals in the Pacific Games after winning the Men’s 56kg snatch, clean and jerk categories last night.
Seruwaia Malani settled for three bronze medals in the women’s 58kg Snatch, Clean and Jerk categories.
According to the Legend FM Pacific Games medal tally, Team Fiji is currently leading with 3 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Papua New Guinea is in second place with 3 gold medals while New Caledonia is in third place with 2 gold and 2 bronze medals.
Looking at other sports:
The Fiji Men’s basketball team lost to host Papua New Guinea 75-73 last night.
They will play American Samoa at 1pm today while the women’s basketball team will take on Solomon Islands at 4pm tomorrow.
In soccer, the Fiji Under 23 soccer team set a new record after registering the biggest score line in a professional soccer match.
Fiji hammered Federated States of Micronesia 38-0 in its second pool match.
Antonio Tuivuna scored ten goals for Fiji, Christopher Wasasala scored nine goals, Iosefo Verevou and Napolioni Qasevakatini scored five goals each, Garish Prasad scored four goals, Manasa Nawakula scored three goals while Tevita Waranivalu and Savenaca Nakalevu scored a goal each.
Fiji beat the Australian soccer team’s record which had scored 31 goals against Samoa in 2009.
Fiji now has four points after two matches.
Fiji’s last pool match will be against Tahiti at 4pm tomorrow.
Swimming starts from midday today and the finals will be held from 8 tonight.
Other sports starting today are tennis, shooting, squash, Va’a, cricket and sailing.
