Tsunami drill to be conducted on Tuesday

The National Disaster Management Office in collaboration with seven agencies will conduct a Tsunami Drill along the Nasese corridor next Tuesday.

The NDMO will be looking at their response time which is estimated at 20 minutes for everyone to be evacuated at the assembly point at the Berkley Crescent (RFMF Startegic Headquarter).

About 2,000 people are expected to participate in this drill including the Office of the President, Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resource, the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, iTaukei Trust Fund Board, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Police Academy and the Fiji Revenue and Customs Services.

The National Disaster Management Office is advising members of the public living along the vicinity not to be alarmed and that these agencies will be temporarily closed from 11am to 2pm on Tuesday.

Also, the Queen Elizabeth drive from Bowling Club to Fiji Revenue and Customs Services office will be temporarily closed during this time.
