Tropical Depression expected to intensify further into a Tropical Cyclone and affect Fiji later tomorrow

The Nadi Weather Office has confirmed that a Tropical Depression remains slow moving to the far Northwest of Fiji and is expected to intensify further into a Tropical Cyclone and is expected to affect Fiji from later tomorrow.

A strong wind warning remains in force for all land areas of Western Viti Levu including areas from Sigatoka to Rakiraki, Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands and Northern Lau Group.

Meanwhile, the Nadi Weather Office says an active trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain remains slow moving over Fiji.

A heavy rain warning remains in force for the whole of Fiji.

Periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms and localised heavy falls may lead to flooding.

A flood warning remains in force for the low lying areas, small streams and areas adjacent downstream of Vatukacevaceva to Rakiraki Town, Rakiraki River, Nasivi to Tavua Town, Toge to Ba Town along the Ba River and Ba FSC along the Ba River.

A flood alert remains in force for low lying areas, small streams and areas adjacent to the rest of the major rivers of Vanua Levu, Taveuni and the Western Division and low lying areas, small streams and areas adjacent downstream of Vatutu and Nadi Town.
