A trial date has been set for 41-year-old Merriane Premila Devi who allegedly murdered her 34‑year‑old defacto husband on the 17th of November last year.
The trial will take place from the 4th to the 8th of June next year.
The incident is alleged to have taken place in Sakoca, Tacirua where the victim sustained burns.
Police had earlier confirmed that a report was initially lodged as an attempted suicide whereby a man in his 30s allegedly tried to take his own life but the case was amended after thorough investigations conducted by officers from Valelevu revealed otherwise.
Devi is seeking legal aid.
The matter will be called before High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo for the Pre-Trial Conference on the 8th of February next year.
The accused has been remanded in custody.
