Travelling will soon become more safer and comfortable for the people of Ovalau in Levuka after the completion of a major road upgrade on the Island.
For years people had to put up with the dusty, narrow road and it was impossible for cars to pass safely.
Fulton Hogan Hiways, Construction Manager Phil Tombs says that it was a priority to get the work completed on time.
Tombs says a team of five-men from New Zealand with the help of local men from the Fulton Hogan Hiways Joint Venture will carry out two weeks of sealing work on sections of the Ovalau Circular Road, the coastal road encircling the island.
He says these include 3,500 square meters of rehab and seal through Bureta Village, 4,500 square meters of rehab and seal at Visoto Village, pre-seal repairs, beginning from Levuka town as well as a 1.5 kilometer seal extension through Waitovu Village.
