The traders who have been charged following the first phase of investigations for contravening provisions of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission Act 2010 will be appearing in court in the respective divisions.
This is confirmed by the Acting CEO of the Commission Seymour Singh who says that 6 traders were charged following the first phase of investigations while 5 traders have been charged following the second phase of investigations.
Singh says that they will continue to investigate consumer complaints pertaining to the CARE programme and where it is found that traders are in breach of the FCCC Act 2010 they will be liable for enforcement action.
He says the third and last phase of investigations will commence soon.
Singh says the final phase will include inspections of traders who are involved under the Homes‑CARE and Farms‑CARE initiative to ensure they are engaging in ethical business practices and acting within the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission Act 2010.
