From 2010 to 2014, trade value between Pacific Island countries in the Melanesian Spearhead Group has increased by 114%.
Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya revealed this at the Trade Ministers Meeting in Nadi this morning.
Koya said as at last year, trade value between the Pacific Island countries in the MSG is $169 million compared to just $79 million in 2010.
Koya said the MSG members should strive to observe, preserve and respect the principles they stand for as part of the Melanesian family.
He said the meeting today sees the Ministers for Trade of Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Fiji at the Tanoa International Hotel negotiating and expanding the existing MSG Trade Agreement.
