Guitarists in the country will have something to be excited about as the first ever “Tom Mawi Taylor X-Man Competition” was launched today to recognize those with unique guitar talent around Fiji.

Fiji’s number one guitarist Tom Mawi believes this type of competition will develop guitarists to learn new skills and expand their knowledge of music.

The head judge of the X-Man competition is John Fong and will be accompanied by Knox “Inoke Kalounisiga and “Nem” Nemani Vanua.

Meanwhile, the finalists of the “X-Man Award” will be nominated in the Tom Mawi Guitar Award during the FPRA Music Awards.

The winner of the competition will receive a Taylor guitar worth over $3,000.

The competition is open to anyone above the age of 18, non-FPRA members, any genre and must be a proficient guitar player.

The competition will start on the 22nd of this month at the Birdland Basement Bar, the second elimination is on April 5th at the Washdown Bar in Lautoka while the final will be held again at the Birdland Basement Bar on April 19.
