Three people will be produced in the Suva Magistrates Court today for allegedly robbing three individuals in Suva over the weekend.
Two of the three are in their 20s while one is a juvenile aged 17-years and all have been charged with theft.
Police say over the weekend, officers conducted an operation within the Suva City area where six people were arrested.
Three have been charged while the others were questioned and released.
Chief Operations Officer, Maretino Qiolevu says police are looking into the concerns raised by members of the public.
He says police are mindful of the calls to increase visibility and patrols within the city areas and have taken the necessary steps to do so, but at the same time officers are also being deployed to conduct mobile and foot patrols throughout the heavily populated residential areas in the Southern Division.
Fijivillage had earlier highlighted the serious concerns that continue to be raised regarding the planned attacks and robberies being carried out by some people at night in the heart of Suva City.
People are calling for more police patrols, foot and bike patrols and CCTV cameras to stop this dangerous trend.
We have already raised the concern after other cases came up over the past few months as Suva City gets busy at night from Wednesday to Saturday.
