Three Bushmaster 4x4 armoured vehicles will arrive in Fiji this month.
Minister for Defence and National Security Ratu Inoke Kubuabola says the three Bushmaster 4x4 armoured vehicles will be transported to Fiji by the Australian Defence force.
He says the RFMF officers that had undergone training on how to operate the new armoured vehicles have returned to Fiji and Golan Heights.
Kubuabola says the amount of money used to purchase these refurbished armoured vehicles is undisclosed because of an agreement between Fiji and Australia.
Ten Bushmaster 4x4 armoured vehicles were bought by the government from the Australian Army.
Seven vehicles have been transported to Golan Heights and three vehicles will arrive in Fiji this month.
Australia will also provide an initial spare parts package for six months.
With a road cruise speed of 100 kilometres per hour, Bushmaster 4x4 armoured vehicles transports troops, quickly and comfortably and is suitable for deployment in complex and lethal operational environments such as Iraq.
This armoured vehicles provides high level protection against anti tank mines, improvised explosive devices, mortar fragments and small arms fire.
The vehicles are fitted with a remote controlled weapon system and have a multimedia communication system.
It is designed to transport up to ten troops.
The cabin has a personal weapons storage area, mission equipment storage and a split air conditioning system to each seat.
