Water supply disruptions affecting thousands of people living in areas in Nasinu, Nausori, Suva and Ba is expected to normalise this evening.

The areas affected in Suva and Nasinu include Caubati, Kinoya Rd, Wainivula area, Laucala Beach area, Fletcher Rd, parts of Raiwaqa and Raiwai, Domain, Muanikau, Nasese, Nasova, Flagstaff, Victoria Parade and Knolly Street.

The Water Authority of Fiji says water supply in these areas is expected to normalise at 6 o’clock this evening.

It says the interruption in supply is due to a network fault resulting in low water levels at the Nasinu and Flagstaff reservoirs.

Some residents living in these areas have also raised concerns about the Water Authority of Fiji not carting water to them despite the Water Authority of Fiji saying that water carts will be on standby to service the areas if the need arises.

There are also water supply disruptions in parts of Davuilevu and Koronivia due to cut in works along Kings Road.

Thousands living along Koronivia Road are affected.

Water supply disruptions in these areas started at 10 last night and the Water Authority of Fiji had stated that it was expected to normalise at 4 this morning but residents say they still do not have any water.

We have asked the Water Authority of Fiji why water supply has not normalised as planned. They are yet to respond.

Thousands of people living in Ba are also facing water supply disruptions due to a damaged water trunk main caused by flood waters from the heavy rainfall on Thursday night.

The Water Authority of Fiji says this has resulted in low inflow  of water from the Varaciva dam causing the water levels at Waiwai reservoir to decrease drastically.

The areas affected in Ba are Vuda Reservoir Road, Part of Naruku, Moto, Tabataba, Kumkum, Motoruku, Chinakoti, Marinitawa, Vuniwawai, Nasolo, Talaiya, Vatulaula, Maururu, Tauvegavega, Namosau, Yalalevu, Nailaga, Navatu, Etatoko, Wailailai, Vadravadra, Lavuci, Natelecake, Vatiyaka, Sorokoba, Varavu, Togalevu, Votua, Nawaqarua, Natutu, Sarava, Varoko and Navau.

The Water Authority of Fiji says water supply in these areas is expected to be gradually restored at 8 o’clock tonight.
