The Samabula Pedestrian Crossing Lights are still not working.
Thousands of people travelling along these roads including students need a clear indication on when it’s safe for them to cross the road.
The two crossing lights, one of which extends from the Calvary Temple towards the Fiji National University Samabula Campus and another that is from the FNU Samabula Campus towards the Samabula Police Station have not been working for over two months now.
Fiji Roads Authority Acting CEO Robert Sen says as an interim measure, the FRA will put signage on all the 10 pedestrian crossing lantern poles at the intersection.
However there is no given time as to when the signage will be put up.
He says this is to warn the pedestrians of the same until this complex issue is rectified by FRA engineers and technicians at this stage until the issue is rectified.
This is after questions were raised by Legend FM News as to when the Samabula Pedestrian Crossing Lights would be fixed.
Sen had earlier said that FRA has successfully managed to fix the crossing from the Calvary Temple to the central median towards FNU.
Fijivillage went and checked out the Samabula Pedestrian Crossing Lights and saw that the lights are still not working.
Sen says there are a number of signalized intersections that are due for an upgrade in the 2017 to 2018 financial year and this intersection is also part of this project.
FRA has been allocated $500,000 for the maintenance of traffic signals in the 2017/2018 National Budget.
