The way some people reacted to the tragic accident in Nabou on Saturday by taking photos and videos and taking items from the victims’ pockets, says a lot about our social values.
These were the words of Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum as he spoke about posts on social media after the FNU student raised concern about the photos and videos of the accident victims put up by heartless people and concerns raised about racial and religious vilification.
Sayed-Khaiyum says this is a major concern, and these are some things that are very difficult to regulate.
Meanwhile Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho says no one has filed any reports in relation to the sharing of the videos and photos of the accident victims.
He also says that no reports have been filed about the people allegedly stealing wallets, shoes and other items of the accident victims from the accident scene.
Photos have been circulated of some people putting their hands in the pockets of the accident victims and removing items.
There are also reports of people even removing the victims’ shoes.
Qiliho is calling on people to file reports of any such incidents.
