The third edition of the Cardiovascular Therapeutic Guidelines has been launched today by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services together with supporting agencies.
While launching the book, Acting Permanent Secretary for Health, Dr. Meciusela Tuicakau said according to observations there are so many patients with combined clinical burden and diseases that it can be a challenge managing them therefore the increase in admissions, occupancy and slow discharge.
Dr. Tuicakau said therefore the Guidelines is expected to assist the Ministry in improving their efficiency in achieving better patients clinical outcomes at minimal time.
Dr. Tuicakau said the Guidelines cover a wide range of topics from overweight and obesity, heart failure, rheumatic heart disease and behaviour risk factor modification which includes smoking, alcohol consumption and stress.
He said the second edition which was published in 2006 was titled Cardiovascular Drug Guidelines but has now been renamed after being revised.
