‘We need to change the mind set of our children when it comes to health and the future of our nation.’
This was highlighted by Minister for Health and Medical Services Rosy Akbar while addressing the Schools’ Chef's Challenge 2017 at Outrigger Beach Resort.
Akbar says through this event the government seeks to improve and develop the cooking skills in youths not only for the Tourism industry but also to lead a healthy life.
The Minister says most of our youth make wrong choices and these unhealthy habits and diets are contributing to our economic epidemic of obesity and NCD’s.
She adds that the challenge for the Ministry is to target people who actually wants to take their health seriously.
Sigatoka Andhra Sangam College won the Schools’ Chefs Challenge 2017.
The winner was awarded with a trophy and more than $2,000 worth of kitchen utensils.
