The SODELPA Youth Wing has stressed that they want the SODELPA AGM venue to be changed from the North to Suva.
The SODELPA AGM is expected to discuss the issue of party leadership after the party failed to win the 2018 general elections. According to the party constitution, a leader is appointed to prepare the party for the next election while the Opposition Leader continues in that parliamentary capacity.
Some names like former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase, lawyer and former One Fiji Leader Filimoni Vosarogo, SODELPA parliamentarians Viliame Gavoka and Lynda Tabuya have been discussed in the SODELPA circle to become the next party leader.
Youth President Jope Koroisavou says it is only right to have the AGM in Suva since it is the central location of majority of SODELPA supporters.
Koroisavou says they are having discussions with the SODELPA leadership as they want some issues to be clarified first.
There are concerns that many of the supporters won’t be able to attend the SODELPA AGM in the North, and the meeting is expected to be dominated by the Northern party supporters.
Meanwhile the SODELPA Youth AGM will be held next Saturday in Suva.
