The Favourite – a tragicomedy starring Olivia Colman as Queen Anne – leads the British Academy Film Awards 2019 nominations with 12 nominations.
Hot off the heels of winning Best Actress at the Golden Globes, Colman has been shortlisted in the equivalent category in the BAFTAS, her first ever nomination at the film awards.
The Favourite came away with 12 nominations, shortlisted in most of the main categories, significantly ahead of Bohemian Rhapsody, First Man, Roma and A Star Is Born, which each received seven nominations.
A Star Is Born lead Lady Gaga earns a nod for best actress, while her co‑star and director Bradley Cooper is up for best actor, a category that also features Rami Malek, who snagged a Golden Globe earlier this week for his star turn as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.
Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Mary Poppins Returns, Mary Queen of Scots and Stan & Ollie have three nominations each.
The British Academy Film Awards ceremony will take place on Monday 11th February at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
