Tender process for rebuilding of schools to be completed in a few weeks

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has confirmed that tender process for the rebuilding of schools is in progress and is expected to be completed in couple of weeks’ time.

Sayed-Khaiyum says out of the 160 schools, tenders for 102 schools have already been awarded.

He says there are very high levels of documentation for tenders and this is why it has taken them longer to process it.

Sayed-Khaiyum says contractors have verified that there has been no shortage of materials for them.

He adds a lot of construction companies face a lot of challenge of getting the right trades people as there is a huge demand.

Sayed-Khaiyum says a lot of these trades people move from one contractor to the other as they have been offered high rates.
