A teacher has been suspended by the Ministry of Education after the death of a form seven student in Lautoka last week.
Education Minister Dr. Mahendra Reddy said they are carrying out a full investigation.
He said they will get to the root of the matter.
Dr. Reddy said appropriate action will be taken after obtaining the full report of the incident.
He added it is most unfortunate that this has happened.
Doctor Reddy said the act has led to loss of life and the Ministry will ensure that due processes are followed.
Dr. Reddy concluded that he will not entertain irresponsible acts as such and is sounding a warning to teachers involved in similar acts to change their approach to students or face the axe as the Ministry does not want to have bullies in our school system.
He has also expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the student.
Meanwhile Police have received the post mortem examination report of the form seven student.
According to Police, the student died due to the extent of burns sustained in a fire last Wednesday.
They are now compiling the investigation file.
A number of people have been questioned and released however no arrests have been made.
