The Education Ministry has completed the investigation in relation to an incident where a Year 1 student was reported missing from Arya Samaj Primary School in Samabula last Thursday.

Permanent Secretary Iowane Tiko says the investigation report will now be submitted to the Solicitor General’s Office for a legal opinion.

Tiko says it’s a serious case which involves the supervision of children by teachers.

When asked by Fijivillage on whether the teachers involved can lose their jobs, Tiko stated that he cannot rule out this possibility as it’s a serious matter.

The mother of the Year 1 student had told us that she went to pick her daughter, Tracy Lal at 2.45pm last Thursday, however she was told by her daughter’s classmate that Tracy had walked down to the gate of the school.

Lal was later spotted near her home in Nadawa and was reunited with her parents.
