A man and a woman have been charged in relation to drug raids conducted by Eastern Division Police operations team on Thursday night.

This raid resulted in the arrest of four people after information was received about their alleged involvement in drug-related activities.

A raid conducted at the home of a 33-year-old self‑employed man in Nakasi resulted in the seizure of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine and apparatus allegedly used for manufacturing the drugs.

The man has been charged with two counts of being in possession of illicit drugs.

He will be produced in the Nasinu Magistrates Court tomorrow.

A 29-year-old woman who is a teacher was also arrested and has been charged with one count of obstruction because she allegedly tore up the search warrant produced by the officers prior to the search.

The two other people who were arrested have been released.

The woman has been remanded at the Korovou Remand Center.

Meanwhile, in the second raid conducted at a billiard shop in Nausori, the Eastern Operations team found a white plastic containing sachets of dried leaves hidden under a drain pipe.

When officers removed the drain pipe cover they found the plastic containing the sachets. The leaves have been sent for analysis.
