A teacher and 5 students of Queen Victoria School facing charges of assault appeared in the Korovou Magistrates Court.
28-year-old teacher Saimoni Liutaki, a 17-year-old, a 19-year-old and three 18-year-old students have been bailed for the sum of $5,000.
They will reappear in court on the 28th of this month.
Liutaki was charged with assaulting students at the boarding school.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirms that the teacher has been charged in relation to the second complaint filed by a Year 13 student’s parent at Lami Police Station.
Serious concerns have been raised on the alleged assaults and bullying of students by some senior prefects and a teacher at QVS for some time.
Minister for Education Doctor Mahendra Reddy has stated that they are conducting an investigation and such incidents will not be tolerated.
Police received two complaints regarding the alleged assaults at QVS - one at Korovou Police Station and the second from Lami Police Station.
