Tavua students to benefit from planned technical college

Students and youth of Tavua will now have an opportunity to pursue a career in technical areas as the Tagitagi Public School will be converted into a Technical College.

Minister for Education Dr Mahendra Reddy says the Technical College will provide an opportunity for those that cannot afford to travel to city areas to get proper qualifications.

He says the students will also be eligible for TELS and all they need to do is enroll into this Technical College and secure proper qualifications to open up employment opportunities.

Dr Reddy highlighted that the Ministry of Education will arrange for the relocation of students in their school to Tagitagi Sangam School, a primary school adjacent to the school in Tavua.

School Manager, Rajendra Singh says most of the students from this area cannot afford to pay their fees and fares to get further education.

Singh adds with the Technical College established and the provision of TELS, the students will surely acquire the necessary skills to secure them employment opportunities.
