Strengthening the services of Korean Airways flights between Fiji and Korea as part of efforts to draw more tourists to Fiji topped talks held this week between the Fijian Government and the Airline.
This week the Minister for Foreign Affairs Ratu Inoke Kubuabola met with the President of Korean Air Line Co Ltd Chang ‑ Hoon Chi to look at marketing the airline’s route into Fiji.
Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola expressed the Fijian Government's appreciation to Korean Air for the air service since 1995 and assured the Government’s support in promoting and marketing Fiji as a tourism and investment destination.
Ratu Inoke says they will do all they can to attract more people to Fiji, who are currently travelling to other destinations.
It was agreed that targeted promotions and tour packages be developed to attract more tourists including Koreans.
Golf, honeymoon and business packages were identified and also important was general awareness through exposition, media and television.
Korean Air currently operates Seoul‑Nadi route three times a week and the number of Korean visitors is gradually increasing every year.
According to the Korea Tourism Organization, 5,676 people have been to Fiji last year and it is expected to increase further this year.
