A 41-year-old farmer of Tailevu has been produced in the Nausori Magistrates Court for allegedly raping an 18-year-old woman on Wednesday afternoon.
He has been charged with one count of rape.
The court heard that the accused lives in the same settlement as the victim and it is alleged that the man committed the offence when the victim was returning after her bath.

Meanwhile, Acting Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho has stated that sexual attack cases against our women and children will be pursued vigorously to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.
He is concerned with the fact that more women and children are becoming victims of this crime.
Qiliho said the fact that sexual crimes against women and children continue to be recorded, it should be a worry for everyone and not just the Fiji Police Force.
