The Fiji Roads Authority has completed reconstruction of seven roads under the Suva Arterial Road Upgrading Project.
This contract was set up to improve the main arterial roads.
These road upgrades includes the Mead Road roundabout to Kinoya- Khalsa traffic lights, McArthur Street, Ratu Mara Road to 50m into Mead Road and Golf Link Road, Gaji/ Grantham Roundabout and Grantham Road to 50m into Kasanji and Gaji Road.
FRA has also completed works at the Princes Road-Waimanu Road intersection to Lakeba Street Junction, Laqere Lights to Makoi Lights and Edinburgh Drive.
FRA says that the new and improved roads has an improved capacity which allows a balanced traffic‑flow particularly during peak hours.
They say these road works will also help prolong the life of the roads by preventing them from premature deterioration and provide a smooth journey to motorists.
The Contractors of the Suva Arterial Road Upgrading Project was the China Railway Fifth Group.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Suva Arterial Road Upgrading Project 2 includes Amy Street, Foster Road, Karsanji Street, Gordon Street, Ratu Mara Road, Ratu Sukuna Road, Rodwell Road, Thomson Street, Waimanu Road, `Kings Road from Wainibokasi Road to Verrier, Augustus Street, Brown Street, Milverton Road, Kula Street, Kaka Street, Robertson Road and Kings Road from Khalsa Road - Kinoya Road Intersection to LTA Valelevu.
