A suspended school teacher accused of allegedly raping and abducting a primary school student has been granted bail by Suva High Court Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar.
The man is charged with three counts of rape and one count of abduction.
It was heard in court that the 13‑year‑old girl attended the same school as the teacher.
The alleged incident happened on the 5th of this month in Nasinu.
Last week, Justice Goundar said he would not consider bail until he receives the teacher’s suspension letter from the Education Ministry.
Today, defence lawyer Jitend Reddy gave the court the suspension letter from the Education Ministry.
The judge also set a cash bail for $5,000.
The accused will now reside in Labasa.
