“Suspects in police custody are just like you and me“
This was stressed by Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho today to 40 officers that are part of a Police Custody workshop at the Fiji Police Academy in Nasova.
Qiliho says there are complaints against some police officers because they simply fail to follow what they are supposed to do.
The Police Commissioner says there is no excuse.
Qiliho says he does not expect overnight success as there are still key areas which they need to improve.
The Police Commissioner also highlighted an area of concern which he saw during his visit to the Totogo Police station.
The workshop is supported by the British government and the Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission.
