People who have purchased building materials which is of bad quality under the Help for Home Initiative can complain to the Ministry of Trade.
Minister for Trade and Tourism, Faiyaz Koya made this comment in parliament today after SODELPA MP, Mosese Bulitavu asked the Minister what they will do to the hardware companies that are providing people with below standard building material under the initiative.
Koya said the suppliers will be taken to task.
He said they have been vigilant in ensuring the right equipment is brought into the country in order to improve the quality and most importantly the safety of buildings.
He said the Ministry of Trade reactivated the Fijian building Standards Committee in March this year to improve the building standards in Fiji.
