Suicide is an emerging problem within medical fraternity and needs to be addressed - Vakamocea

The Fiji Medical Association Secretary Doctor Alipate Vakamocea says suicide is now an emerging problem within the medical fraternity and it needs to be addressed.

He has highlighted that two doctors committed suicide in the last two years.

Doctor Vakamoce says four doctors have attempted suicide in the last two years.

He adds that this is one of the many issues that they talked about in the two day 60th Fiji Medical Association Annual Scientific Conference.

More than 200 doctors from around Fiji both in private and public sectors were present at the conference which focused on the theme ‘Making Medicine Safe’.
