Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar has told people in Nadi that their success as a family depends not on what happens in parliament, but on what happens inside your house.
She made the comments while opening the Early Childhood Education Week at Nadi’s Andrews Primary School.
Akbar reminded parents to take responsibility in the education of their children.
She urged all parents to love their children adding parents should read to them, hug them, listen to them and appreciate them.
Akbar highlighted that Early Childhood Education is a vital component of the education sector and the Fijian Government will continue to strengthen this area.
She said she is happy to say that the government has already made a commitment to this by investing in Fiji’s young lives through the increase in salary of the early childhood education teachers.
Akbar said another of government’s priorities is inclusive education for children with disabilities and with this focus, it ensures that no child is left behind.
