More then 620 students of Gospel High School successfully passed out from the school Cadet Passing Out Parade today.
This became the largest number of students to pass out from the cadet program throughout the country.
Chief Guest, Commander Fiji Navy, Humphrey Tawake reminded passing out students that Cadet Training is not meant to turn them to soldiers even though some might choose that as a career later in life.
Tawake told students that Cadet training is meant to instill important values of life like discipline, respect and courage as these qualities are good for them now and into the future.
He called on leaders to earn respect of others and he highlighted the issue of bullying in schools which is becoming a concerning matter.
Commander Navy also reminded students who are completing their final year to remember the values that the school has instilled in them when they go through challenging times as they will soon enter tertiary institutions and the workforce.
Meanwhile, Gospel High School Head Girl, Amisha Maharaj who also received the award for Best Female Cadet says the Cadet program has lifted the standard of discipline in the school.
She also dedicates her award to all the female student.
The Head Boy, Timoci Ratulevu thanked the soldiers for helping improve the standard of discipline in the school as he says that they have not come to change them, to become soldiers but instill important values to student.
Gospel High School is also the only school where students with hearing impairment also participate in the Cadet program.
