Strong winds and rain is currently being experienced in Moala, Lau.
Josateki Besitimoala who a nurse at the Moala Health Centre says that Moala island is experiencing strong winds and rain at this moment.
Besitimoala says that they are also experiencing rough seas at times but they are very prepared for Cyclone Mona as people are seen putting up wind shelters arund their homes.
Heavy rain and strong winds have begun to ease in Oneata, Tubou and Vanuavatu in Lau.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Maraia Rokoleba who lives in Oneata, Lau says that they have experienced periods of strong winds and heavy rain throughout the day.
She adds that villagers dragged boats to shore and put up shutters and prepared food and stored drinking water as Tropical Cyclone Mona tracks towards the Lau group.
Rokoleba says that in the last hour, heavy rains and strong winds have suddenly eased.
Vosawale Onoitoga of Tubou village says that they have experienced heavy rain since Saturday and this has eased a bit coming into this afternoon.
Manasa Tuisua who lives in Vanuavatu says currently they are experiencing light showers and people have prepared in the case the weather begins to worsen.
