Discussions relating to how the execution of law enforcement could be strengthened in the country were held between India’s Defense Advisor Captain Chetan Chandegave and the Acting Commissioner of Police Isikeli Vuniwaqa.
The Acting Police Commissioner said the prospect of exchanging knowledge and expertise with India will greatly assist Fiji in tackling emerging crimes.
Possible areas of assistance which surfaced out of the discussions include training on information technology, forensics, cybercrime and peacekeeping.
The possible attachment of Fiji Police officers to India was also part of the discussions.
Captain Chandegave, who is based in Canberra, Australia, is in Fiji on his first official visit.
