People are expected to see a new and much improved Stinson Parade Bridge when the Fiji Roads Authority complete work in 2017.
Fiji Roads Authority CEO, Neil Cook said when the bridge is completed its cross section will consist of two sidewalks and a two lane vehicle access.
Cook explained the new Stinson bridge will align with Harris Road cutting through the existing Ports Authority Building adjacent to the existing bridge.
Cook said major works will start in the first quarter of this year with the building demolition as the Ports building land acquisition is complete.
Cook added another major work is the relocation of Fiji Electricity Authority, TFL cables and pipes that may be located at the bottom of the bridge.
The main construction work will commence in the second quarter of this year.
Meanwhile, the upgrading of 101 street lights of which 65 are on standalone poles along the Suva Nausori corridor has been completed. Cook adds the contractor for the project is waiting for the arrival of street light fittings to complete work on the rest of the lights.
