In the first quarter of this year the Land Transport Authority has caught 3,000 drivers speeding through its speed cameras.
LTA CEO Naisa Tuinaceva says they have now undertaken a new approach in order to catch those speeding.
Tuinaceva says when LTA receives reports of speeding in a certain area they set up temporary speed camera’s which may be set up in a normal vehicle and parked near the road.
Fijivillage has witnessed this along the Lami Suva corridor where a vehicle with speed cameras installed at the back of the vehicle was parked at a bus stand.
Tuinaceva admits this is not right but it is only temporary.
