The South Pacific Business Development Micro-finance Network has achieved an impressive milestone as they surpassed US $100m in microloans disbursed to hardworking, low-income women entrepreneurs.
In Fiji alone, SPBD has provided more than 34,250 loans worth US $16.5m since 2010.
SPBD Founder and President Gregory Casagrande says they will continue to expand within its current countries as well as into new country markets throughout the South Pacific.
Vilisi Tabua who is an entrepreneur and member of SPBD has today received a $10,000 loan from the US $100m loan disbursement.
Tabua who sells fish at the Suva Market says she would not have been able to achieve much without SPBD because it is very hard to get a loan from banks.
She successfully grew her fishing business which enabled her to access SPBD’s larger Small- medium Enterprise financing with her 8th Loan.
