The Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority has said some taxpayers and importers are allegedly forging tax documents issued by FRCA for personal benefits.
CEO Jitoko Tikolevu said they are investigating complaints where forged documents were presented to certain financial institutions for personal gains.
He said they also had some cases where some taxpayers allegedly tried to bribe their officers.
Tikolevu said FRCA has a no gift policy.
Meanwhile, information received by FRCA revealed that certain businesses not registered for VAT are collecting VAT from customers and are issuing false receipts and invoices showing that they are registered for VAT.
Tikolevu said this practice is unacceptable and FRCA will ensure that those caught are dealt with severely.
