The Fiji Police Force does not have sufficient vehicles and this is affecting them in attending to cases.
Chief Operations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu confirmed that they have a shortage of about 79 vehicles that have not been replaced.
Tudravu said the running life of 79 vehicles have come to end and they are now relying on the Ministry of Finance to work out something for the Force.
Tudravu has also revealed to Fijivillage that some police vehicles are in bad shape and cannot travel on gravel roads.
However, Tudravu said they have just dispatched four additional patrol cars to attend reports in Lautoka, Nasinu, Samabula and at Central Police station.
Some listeners have raised concern on our talkback, Straight Talk in the last few days about the shortage of police vehicles and have asked candidates whether they will do something about it if they win the upcoming elections.
The Fiji Police Force was allocated $111.7 million in the 2014 National Budget which is an increase of $19.5 million.
