The Acting Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho has urged law enforcement officers to understand the emphasis and complexities of sexual crimes and the trauma the victim and the family go through.
While speaking to law enforcement officers who graduated from the Personal Crime Investigators course, Qiliho says the gravity of sexual offences is unacceptable and it has reached a stage now that the people we look up to for wisdom are the perpetrators.
24 law enforcement officers from around the country graduated from the Personal Crime Investigators course at the Fiji Police Academy in Nasova.
The course had a specific focus on the investigation and legislation of sexual offence cases as well as the handling of victims.
It included Police officers and personnel from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Medical Services Pacific and two military police officers from the RFMF.
