Several students buy their own school stationery from money saved from holiday jobs

Several students have decided to take matters into their own hands and have used their hard earned money during the holidays to purchase their school stationery for the new school year.

Merewalesi Tarawa who is in Year 12 this year says that the money she earned working as a movie attendant during the school holidays has enabled her to purchase the school stationery’s that she needs this year.

She adds that the cost of purchasing exercise books is really high for her with 200 page exercise books selling $2.50 per book.

A Year 13 student from Nausori who wishes to remain anonymous says that the money he earned from his holiday job working as a package boy at a supermarket has definitely helped his parents in purchasing his school stationery this year.

He adds that holiday jobs are very helpful in financially supporting the family where he says that he also managed to buy groceries along with his school stationery.

The Year 13 student has also encouraged his peers and other young people to be take up holiday jobs during the school holidays as it will enhance their experience and also earn them some pocket money to support their families and themselves.
