The Seventh Day Adventist Church of Fiji says they want faith to be considered in the selection process of any Principal or Headteacher of any Seventh Day Adventist run and operated school in the country.
This has been highlighted by the General Secretary of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Fiji, Pastor Joe Talemaitoga who says this is a non-negotiable request.
Talemaitoga says the Church position on this matter is exactly the same as that of the Archbishop of the Catholic Church in Fiji.
Talemaitoga adds they have not had a non-Adventist appointment as head of their school as yet however because some have been given letters to come in and take up other high ranked positions in their school, the church has taken the stand to privatize their main secondary school.
Talemaitoga says that 100 percent of their teachers at Navesau Adventist High School are paid by the church while staff of their remaining two high schools and 10 primary schools are still paid by the government.
He adds that they will work with the government on nation building however he says that there is a faith element they believe should be included in the appointment process.
