Seventeen individuals recognised for outstanding contributions

Seventeen individuals were today recognised for their outstanding contributions in their areas of work and communities.

The medals were awarded by President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau at Government House.

The Order of Fiji is intended to recognise achievement or meritorious service by the citizens of Fiji and it has a General and Military division.

The Commander of the RFMF, Brigadier General Mosese Tikoitoga, was also inducted as an Officer of the Order of Fiji in the Military Division with current Cabinet Minister Captain Timoci Natuva and Commander Viliame Naupoto.

While speaking at the induction ceremony Tikoitoga said that the honorary medal which he has achieved recognizes the fight which the RFMF took to ensure that this is a country for all Fijians.

Mohammed Sharif Sahim who has invested the last few years in developing the lives of the youth in vulnerable communities shared how grateful he was to be inducted into the medal of order of Fiji in the general division today.

Several Fiji Ambassadors were also conferred as Officers of the Order of Fiji in the General Division and it included Fiji’s Ambassador to the United Nations Peter Thompson.

Chairman of the Fiji Hoteliers Association Dixon Seeto was also given an honorary medal for his outstanding contribution in the Tourism Industry.
