Minister for National Disaster Management Inia Seruiratu has said that they are looking forward to the government’s allocation post Cyclone Winston in the 2016/2017 National Budget announcement at 7.30 tonight.
Seruiratu said that they will definitely have an allocation for recovery works after the devastation caused by Cyclone Winston.
He said the allocation for post Winston will be different from the allocation of the office of the National Disaster Management which was $3.8 million in the 2016 National Budget.
Seruiratu added that the $3.8 million allocated for the NDMO is sufficient.
The Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster was allocated $36.9 million in the 2016 National Budget which was an increase of $5 million from the 2015 National Budget.
The 2016/2017 National Budget will be announced by the Minister for Finance Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum at 7.30 tonight.
