Senior police officer found guilty of bribery

Lautoka High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe has found a Senior Police officer guilty of two counts of bribery.

The three assessors had found Timoci Naulu not guilty for the first count but found him guilty for the second count.

Naulu has been charged by FICAC for two counts of bribery in 2014.

Sentencing submissions will be made tomorrow.

Naulu will be sentenced next Monday.

His bail has been extended and he has to report to the FICAC Lautoka office everyday till the sentencing date.

Naulu who was an Acting Inspector of the Fiji Police Force without lawful authority or reasonable excuse solicited an advantage of $5000 on account of his abstaining from performing an act in his capacity as a public servant namely not to file charges against one Kamlesh Kumar.

Naulu also accepted an advantage of FJ$200 and AUD$200 on account of his abstaining from performing an act in his capacity as a public servant namely not to file charges against Kamlesh Kumar.
