Fiji 7s team captain Osea Kolinisau.

Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber says a few senior players are assisting captain, Osea Kolinisau this year.

This is to have more people assisting the team leadership.

Baber was reacting to questions raised by Fijivillage on who he is looking at for the leadership position in the team to assist Kolinisau.

Jerry Tuwai, Samisoni Viriviri, Apisai Domolailai and Masivesi Dakuwaqa have all been named in the Fiji team for the Las Vegas and Vancouver 7s tournaments.

Jasa Veremalua who has been the Vice Captain since last year, is sitting out this leg as he wants to be with his wife for the birth of their first child.

All these players have also confirmed that they will stay with the Fiji 7s team and have not signed any overseas contracts.

We are currently trying to get confirmation if they have signed contracts with the Fiji Rugby Union.

Meanwhile there is still no word on whether Kolinisau will take up the scholarship offered by Loughborough University in England.

It was earlier said that this was still under negotiation.

Kolinisau has already said that he would like to coach in the future but after he has the necessary qualifications.

There is no doubt Gareth Baber will look at all these issues and the role of the team captaincy as the World Cup 7s and the Commonwealth 7s will be held next year.
