This was highlighted by the Minister for Health and Medical Services Rosy Akbar while opening the Nursing Supervisors and Management Day at the Tanoa Waterfront in Lautoka.
Akbar says they must bring back the nightingale spirit in the nursing profession.
She says members of the public have also complained about nurses and doctors and reminded the senior managers to look into all issues.
Akbar says they will not condone negligence as being a nurse is as noble as being a teacher but one mistake can be disastrous and we all must work together to eliminate shortfalls.
She says they all have differences and they cannot work in isolation, they must all work in unison to serve all Fijians no matter their background, race, culture or religious belief.
Akbar has acknowledged the many challenges faced by nurses in Fiji however she urged them to continue working towards excellence.
She says they should not become territorial with other junior staff and they must not condone laxity and negligence.
