Children and senior citizens from different orphanages and homes around the country were all smiles today when they were treated to a Christmas treat by the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation in partnership with the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LICI) at the Tanoa Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka.
While speaking at the event, Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Sofia Akbar stressed that Christmas is always a special occasion when it is celebrated by everyone irrespective of their race, religion, belief, age or gender.
She said government will continue to empower individuals who are secluded and not cared for in the society.
Present at the occasion were children from the Veilomani Boys Home, St Christopher’s Home, St Mina’s Home, Treasure Home, Fiji Disabled Association and Senior Citizens from the Golden Age Home.
