Senior officers of the Fiji Police Force are currently attending a workshop aimed at enhancing their knowledge of Parliamentary processes and procedures.
Workshop facilitator and FNU’s Adjunct Professor of Governance and Ethics Professor Richard Herr says the objective of the course is to develop a platform of knowledge and skills for personnel who need an understanding of the parliament.
Facilitated by the Fiji National University, the workshop titled “The Law, Parliament and You”, is expected to give the officers more knowledge of, and familiarity with, the fundamentals of the operation of the Parliament of Fiji as a law-making institution.
Professor Herr adds that knowledge of citizenship is important for all Fijians.
The workshop is funded by the Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects Programme.
Today’s session is the first for two groups of senior officers and ends tomorrow afternoon.
